Before your visit
Prepare for the first visit
- A full list of medicines, especially blood thinners and diabetes drugs
- Recent blood tests; HbA1c and fasting glucose if you have diabetes
- Surgical, discharge or Doppler ultrasound reports if available
- Photos showing how the wound changed in recent days
- The shoes or socks you usually wear (for foot wounds)
When not to wait for an appointment
Fever and chills, redness or swelling spreading by the hour, a very bad smell, toes turning dark and sudden severe pain need emergency care right away.
